Municipal Office, A’dam

Good lighting is not just about Lux levels because that’s not the right way to design spaces for people. Contrast and variation in light color give this 1500m2 office both a functional and homely atmosphere. To let the space look less businesslike, we chose general lighting with a slightly warmer light colour and better colour rendering than usual in offices. Different lighting treatment to cool colours/materials and warm wood gives a nice juxtaposition and balance. The rough concrete ceiling of a former archive room is industrially highlighted and wooden panels are given a warm wash. Existing pendant and desk lamps have been reused where possible. Energy consumption is reduced with dimmable energy-efficient LED fixtures and presence sensors on all lighting. Interior design: Stelt Design/Studio Wij.
