Industrial heritage illuminated. The renovated service building of the former coal-fired power station has an impressive atrium with a large skylight. On the lower floors, little horizontal daylight enters the void. As a result, they look dark and uninviting. The lighting design is inspired by the incidence of light from the skylight: grazing light from above, along the walls downwards, in a relatively cool light colour. The artificial light falls in a natural way, directing the visitor’s gaze upwards. This gives the atrium the attention it deserves, the floors themselves are pleasantly lit.
