De briefing
Broedplaats De Ceuvel organiseerde in 2017 het Ware Noorden Lichtfestival.
De opgave: maak een duurzame lichtkunst-installatie als beeldbepalend element van het festival.
De uitdaging
Zorg dat de installatie nieuwe verbindingen verbeeldt tussen het oude en nieuwe Amsterdam-Noord.
Het eindresultaat
De lichtinstallatie benadrukt zowel de nieuwe verbindingen in Amsterdam Noord als het principe van up-cycling van materialen. De installatie bevat 1200 gebruikte PET-flessen die worden doorgelicht met led DMX schijnwerpers in een dynamisch spel van smalle bundels blauw, groen en wit licht. Dit versterkt de kleur van de flessen en het refereert aan het Noorderlicht. De vorm van de installatie verwijst naar de Noordster. Het ontwerp van de drie ster-punten is geïnspireerd door de vorm van het wifi-symbool en de zeilen van boten. Ter verbeelding van de nieuwe verbindingen en als referentie naar de voormalige scheepswerf op deze plek.

The briefing
In 2017 breeding ground De Ceuvel organized the True North Light Festival.
The assignment: create a sustainable light art installation as a defining element of the festival.
The challenge
Let the installation represent new connections between both the old and the gentrified Amsterdam North.
The result
The installation emphasizes both the new connections in Amsterdam North and the principle of upcycling materials. The installation contains 1.200 used PET bottles that are lit through with LED DMX floodlights in a dynamic play of narrow beams of blue, green and white light. This strengthens the colour of the bottles and it refers to the Aura Borealis. The shape of the installation refers to the North Star. The design of the three star points was inspired by the shape of the Wi-Fi symbol and the sails of boats. To represent the new connections and as a reference to the former shipyard on this site.
