Adam Tower, Amsterdam

Sketch design for the former Shell tower at the IJ river bank in Amsterdam on request of LED producer InventDesign. The scheme reflects the new use of the tower as a base for the creative music and dance industry. It emphasizes the iconic shape of the building (accent to the base and the top) and can be interactive and dynamic as well. The four facades can either be displayed as an architectural form or used as a dynamic canvas for light art, images or texts. The lighting concept is flexible: understated when appropriate, exuberant when possible. The tower can appear both as a stylish icon or as a seductive beacon. The design did not win the pitch, but elements of this appear in the realized lighting.
